Blog Depression

I have been absolutely suffering from blog depression. The nice thing is that I am not depressed at all -- I have simply not wanted to write in my blog. You can understand, I'm sure.

But there are and have been a number of really awesome things going on, things I want to remember, so I will write about them in my blog. I may do several of these entries, as it is 1am and I am tired.

Tonight was the last official Tribe show at the Tribe Theatre. It was the graduation show for my level 2 students, and they were fantastic. They did 5 Ken Loomins, and while a few of them took some time to get going, they were all flying by the end. Classes are so hard, because people are invariably at REALLY different levels in terms of ability, and their egos are so fragile. You have to strike the perfect balance between stroking their egos and helping them realize what they need to do better. Tonight, everyone shone though, even my student who obviously has a hard time on stage. Afterwards, they surprised me by announcing that they wanted to share the last moments on the Tribe Theatre stage, so they invited people from the audience to play, and of course I played. I got to say the last improvised words on the Tribe Theatre stage. They were, "When you ride with Yakov, you ride in style." It has been so hard to keep going back to the Theatre every week since we got canned, the seedy husk of a really great dream. Tonight though, it was all worth it. My heart was all exploding with light and pride and wonder, seeing my students grow before my eyes as they got their first laughs, as I got to play with them as an equal. It was just awesome. And then I went and saw Little Miss Sunshine with [info]qbaz and life seemed even better than before. Go see it if you like to feel awesome. See it with [info]qbaz for maximum effect.

Oh, and the thing I have modestly contributed to this summer, Hiveminder is now available on the Internets. You should check it out. I can't tell you much about what looks to be my next gig, but it involves these people and I am brain-meltingly excited about it.
