Travis Morrison Make Out Blog, Part ?

[info]raysimoto is known to ask whether pandas or koalas are cuter. Well, I just dug up an interview with my favoritest musician ever, Travis Morrison, in which he's asked the same question. Behold the awesomeness of his answer below:

OK, one more thing. Which do you think is cuter, koalas or pandas?

This is a hard one, as you must know. I struggle with this a lot. Koalas sleep like 20 hours a day, and also will tear your ass up if you bother them. And then go back to sleep, I guess. And when a cute animal's usual M.O. is drowsy passivity, but can be provoked into devastating violence... well that's just like turbo cuteness, to me. In animals, and honestly, in people too. I don't think panda bears have this kind of game, so I'll go with koalas.

Also, can we agree that Kung-Fu Panda is like the wire-mommy filled with cotton candy? That movie was so totally awesome, but waaaaaay too short! Why did it withhold when there were clearly more goodies to be had?!

Also, I watched "The Simpsons Movie" today and it confirmed for me that 2008 was kind of a dull year for movies. There was a lot to like, but also a lot of flat-footed gags that made you long for a monorail salesman.

Just Floored

One of the most beautiful things I have ever seen is a DVD Extra. Do yourselves a favor and rent "The Devil and Daniel Johnston." Having a familiarity with his unbelievable songs is helpful, but watching the movie can probably provide enough context. So watch the movie.

And then watch the DVD extra in which Daniel meets Laurie Allen at South by Southwest. The look on his face as he hugs her, the things he says...it's just beautiful. I wept. Literally wept.

Also, if you like theatre at all, I highly recommend Mark McKinney's "Slings and Arrows." Jess and I finished season 1 last night and it was top-notch.

I'll probably write more about myself sometime soon, but I just can't right now.

Is it Obvious Day?

And the New York Times might not have bothered to think before posting this little nugget about a movie and trend that are both a decade old.

Jessica was almost certainly not going to see that movie with me - of this I was certain. Since she was going home for her family's Passover/Easter double header though, I was free to take in the film with [info]nafe and a few others.

In the interest of brevity, I will say that I loved it. And now masking for spoilers )

In other news, Zoe Bell is my new movie star girlfriend. Sorry, Alyson Hannigan. Sorry. At some point in the last half hour of the movie, I leaned over to [info]nafe and whispered, "I have never been more turned on."

I could see it again.
